Google Confirms Post in Bell Canada’s 5G Cloud

Bell Canada shared strategies to drive some 5G network services into Google Cloud, considering its second hyper-scale agreement in as several months, and an understanding of the operator’s multi-cloud vision.

The operator’s original plans include shifting IT infrastructure, network functions, and on-premise applications to Google Cloud. The organizations also plan to support the order, which will run “during the next decade,” to develop cloud and edge services and enhance customer service and network capacity intending support of automation and artificial intelligence.

Bell Canada intends to combine different resources and capabilities from multiple cloud providers into its 5G network infrastructure. Last month, the messenger said it would be the first Canadian operator with a 5G multi-access edge compute (MEC) service joined with Amazon Web Services (AWS) by the end of the year.

While initial attempts with AWS have gathered around 5G edge services, Google Cloud’s contributions will begin inside Bell’s network infrastructure.

Tamer Shenouda, Bell’s director of cloud infrastructure and services, wrote in response to questions that while beginning on in our mission, they’ve understood that each cloud partner takes diverse skills and has developed domain-specific ecosystems.

Bell Details Multi-Cloud 5G Strategies:

He added that to support an end-to-end transformation their strategies will involve many partnerships in fields like 5G, media, TV, MEC, and big data. They will leverage the most developed ecosystem for each region and are remodeling with the cloud.

Bell’s initial efforts with Google Cloud will concentrate on analytics, network automation, orchestration, and other factors. Shenouda wrote that some of these abilities start being installed over many services later in 2021 and early 2022.

Anthos for Telecom, Google Cloud’s multi-cloud contribution for network operators, plays a starring role in that battle. The third-largest cloud provider lately settled deals with AT&T for its expanding 5G edge, and Ericsson supports the network operator’s turn to a cloud-native infrastructure on Google’s platform.

Shenouda said Bell Canada would discuss possible multi-cloud complications by grouping specific applications and purposes where it makes the most sense. We will also leverage third-party partners, measures, and APIs to gather an open ecosystem that allows multi-cloud abilities.

Bell’s current methods with Google don’t call for the use of its Global MEC offering, but Shenouda said the operator sees benefit in having many partners in the side space.
